Tonight at 9pm on BBC Two, PUSHPINDER CHANI can be seen playing Puli’s husband in much anticipated one off drama THE BOY WITH THE TOP KNOT based on the critically acclaimed memoir The Boy with the Topknot by journalist Sathnam Sanghera.

Sacha Dhawan stars in this adaptation of journalist Sathnam Sanghera’s witty and heartfelt memoirs. As a young man, Sathnam makes a rare trip home, to tell his parents who he’s become, and uncovers a secret that changes what he thought he knew. Now he must reconcile opposing parts of himself: London and Wolverhampton; the media world and traditional Sikh life; modern romance and arranged marriage.

This is a touching, humorous and emotional rites-of-passage story, about a second generation Indian growing up in Britain and how he tries to juggle family, love life and career. It explores the sensitive subject of mental illness with courage and honesty, and by being authentic and specific to Sathnam and his wonderful family, it tells a universal truth about the human heart.
